
YIDDISH CENTER

Started in 1992 unites the local Jewish audience speaking or understanding Yiddish. Yiddish Center is aimed to develop the Yiddish language, literature and music and to bring this tradition to young adults and children. Twice a month, the Center opens its doors to anyone in the community who wants to study and speak the Yiddish language, to learn about famous Yiddish writers, to enjoy Yiddish music and song, and to watch Yiddish movies. Literary and music soirees, meetings with writers, the weeks of Yiddish language are organized in the framework of this program. The Center is governed by a board of local Yiddish writers, musicians, workers of the Academy of Sciences with the patriarch of Moldovan Yiddish Literature Yichil Sriebman at the head.
